At the risk of cluttering up yet more of the ether, I want to ask
why this process is happening. If it is valuable , then is email the
best way forward?
If it is happening because ILT members want to get to recognise one
another, then perhaps we should invent a code or secret handshake like
some other societies!!
If, as I suspect, the reason its to find people who are grappling with
the same issues or who have some expertise to share with members, then
perhaps we should use the existing mechanisms - themed conferences,
regional meetings etc - and require ILT to provide some further services
( we do pay for this, after all)
A possible service might be a "membership skills register", which
identifies who can do (or knows about) what.
Having such a register would certainly be more efficient than wading
through 5000+ emails.
I hope this doesn't lead to a flurry of emails, but does encourage the
executive to keep looking at ways of providing mutual support for
members.
