This is not deja vu folks. Yes you may have already received the below
message via our Mailbase, but I have been contacted by some who point out
that there were no contact details (my "signature" at bottom), so could I
please send again with them on. Not my fault I hasten to add - our
"techies" assured me it was on when they recently transferred me from Simeon
to Outlook, but it obviously wasn't - you just can't get the techies these
days. I am hereby obliging and sending again, so my apologies to those who
don't want my contact details.
Greetings fellow Auditors
This is your editor speaking so please sit up and pay attention.
I have received very positive feedback from members and others about the
content and style of the last Web-based edition.
I would like to produce another well received edition in what may be final
throw as editor.
To paraphrase the old posters however "Your Cheialeader needs you". That is
to say if you as members do not contribute something then there will be no
Cheialeader.
Consequently I am pleading for some of you to contribute something. Please
do not take the attitude that you don't have to bother to make the time as
"someone" will write something anyway. That philosophy may lead to a
non-edition.
David Thompson did put a request out over the Mailbase for contributions to
be sent to me but the response thus far is negligible.
So, please gird your loins and consider the following :-
1.
An article written by yourselves that is germane to Internal Auditing and/or
HE. Our Executive have decided against a "theme" for this edition so please
do not feel limited/restricted - you have virtual carte blanche.
Now, in the last edition we finally got some firms of Accountants who
provide IAS's to HE's to write something. These were well received and I
would like to ask more of these firms to write something for this edition.
I would also like to throw the gauntlet down to some of the consortia who
supply IAS's. They should in fairness be able to contribute something - how
about it, particularly say our friends in the North West?
It can be amusing/humorous - see earlier editions for examples.
2.
Have you seen an interesting article in a Professional magazine etc. that
you think your colleagues in CHEIA might benefit from reading? If so,
please let me have details of publication(s), date(s), author(s), article
title(s), and most importantly a contact point with the publishers/editors
(telephone numbers and E-mail addresses are generally given on first few
pages).
3.
Have you attended a Course/Conference/Seminar recently, or read a really
useful book?
If so please send in a review - again, please refer to earlier editions for
an example.
4.
Can you interest any members of your senior management teams in writing to
express their views on and their wants/needs from Internal Audit?
We have in the past had articles from a VC and a Director of IT, so there is
an interest out there in expressing such views. Please approach your senior
managers - you might be surprised at how willing they would be to write.
Some of you must have Academics who specialise in teaching/researching
Internal Auditing and Risk etc. It would be really good if you could
persuade them to write something for us - help to demonstrate that there is
no Admin. v. Academic divide.
As to deadlines, well the sooner the better - I am running late after being
off ill for more than two weeks, but would like to get something on our
Website by early July (this year). Size/length does not matter - I am sure
our "Webmeister", Martin Hedley-Smith can stretch to accommodate most
contributions, and produce another excellent display. If you do write,
please send to me as Word attachments, preferably in 10 point type, and in
Times New Roman font.
That's all folks.
Ian
