Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Experimental Rock Physics
at the Department of Geology & Geophysics, University of
Edinburgh. http://www.glg.ed.ac.uk/
Due to a candidate withdrawal at a late stage, we are seeking an
experienced post-doctoral research associate in experimental rock
physics to work on the Deep Geodynamic Laboratory - Gulf of
Corinth project. This European consortium is drilling into active
faults in the Gulf of Corinth, with the overall aim of understanding the
behaviour of the subsurface fluid-rock system in an actively
deforming tectonic zone.
At Edinburgh our role is to determine the mechanical and hydraulic
properties of the recovered borehole core, and to compare this with
the behaviour of analogue materials exposed at the surface.
We are seeking a candidate with a PhD in geophysics or a cognate
discipline, with skills in laboratory experimentation. The post is
initially for eighteen months, at an annual salary in the range
£16,775- £25,213 (under review).
A formal advert will be placed in EOS soon, but we welcome
inquiries and expressions of interest at this stage, to
