Hi Folks,
This thread (metasomatism) brings up an important point about the
distribution of files that have been discussed over the mail list. Often
what happens in these situations is that a torrent of e-mails (quite
rightly) follows an offer of a particular file or piece of software. On
the jiscmail system we actual have some allocated file server space for
storage of files that can be easily retrieved by any list member. The
address is:
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/files/GEO-MINERALISATION/
The most sensible thing that I can see is if people want to offer
files/software to the whole list - send me a copy for upload to the files
storage section then e-mail the list with the appropriate URL for any one
to grab a copy. If this is not acceptable or you want to limit the
distribution of the file, then send a private e-mail to the person with the
request.
Does this seem sensible to everyone? I am just trying to avoid unnecessary
traffic whilst opening up an opportunity build up a database of useful
files or software for the community!
Thanks
James
