Hi Everyone,
The purpose of this email is to reinforce the advertisment for the
25th MDSG AGM that Clive Boulter and Ross McGowan sent around
earlier.
On the basis of registrations and expressions of interest received
thus far there will be a strong industry presence at this year's
meeting. Various companies and organisations have also generously
offered sponsorship for the meeting. These include Rio Tinto, Anglo
Platinum, Lonmin, Minmet, BGS and the IMM. One of the key areas where
sponsors would like to see their support directed towards is
postgraduate students.
Rio Tinto and Lonmin will be sponsoring prizes worth £250 each for
the best student talk and the best student poster. What better
incentive for students (and their supervisors) is that? The MDSG
annual meeting provides a friendly and welcoming environment for
research students to present their latest results and to meet new
people from academia and industry working in economic geology.
I would encourage all postgrad students who subscribe to
Geomineralisation to think about coming along and giving an oral or
poster presentation. Supervisors who receive this email please pass
it on to your students. This year's meeting is going to be a really
exciting one with special sessions on Pt-Pd deposits and sea floor
mineral deposits, as well as a general session covering all other
deposits. The MDSG AGM should be a key element of any economic
geology research student's development so get up, check out the
website

get in touch with Clive and get involved!!!
This year MDSG will be offering some support to postgraduate students
who plan to attend the meeting and give a presentation. We will not
be offering support to those who do not plan to present. Contact me
at the address below for more information. How much more incentive
can we give you? It's up to you folks now. Without the involvement of
the membership, the MDSG is nothing, so come on folks, get involved.
Cheers,
Iain McDonald
