>
> DECEMBER 10th 17th, 2001
>
> This workshop is sponsored by the Deposit Modeling Program of the IUGS/UNESCO
> and will focus on world-class, economically important SEDEX Zn-Pb deposits of
> Rajasthan (e.g. Rampura-Agucha, Rajpura-Dariba and Zawar). The first phase (2
> days) will be held in Delhi and will cover the concepts and aspects of ore
> deposit modeling with special reference to base metal sulfide deposits; major
> characteristics of Sedex deposits world-wide (mainly Australian, North
> American and European) and their important attributes (e.g. tectonic setting,
> sedimentary architecture, magmatism and heat flow, basinal environments,
> hydrothermal reaction zones, fluid compositions and sources, depositional
> processes, etc.); an overview of the regional geology and tectonic set up of
> the Northwestern Indian shield and details of the geology of Pb-Zn sulfide
> deposits in the region. The second phase (4 days, including travel time) will
> involve field visits in south-central Rajasthan to the Rampura-Agucha deposit,
> the Zawar group of deposits, and the Rajpura-Dariba deposit. The third phase
> will include seminars for 2 days at Udaipur to examine the applicability of
> the existing models, exploration parameters and targets, and environmental
> aspects of mining Pb-Zn sulfide deposits.
