In reply to Malcolm Roberts, the norm program he mentioned can
be found from the 'Downloadable information' link on
http://www.geoscience.org.za/
At nearly 7 Mb, it's enormous. In my younger days, practically every
petrologically-minded post-grad wrote his/her own program, usually
in FORTRAN. There must be hundreds out there. I wrote one myself, in
the days when the entire university computing service was run on an
ICL main-frame with 256 K (this is not a misprint) of main memory,
so my norm program is a good deal shorter!
