Bonjour David,
A fine-grained, highly aluminous (Al2O3 = 31.8%) pelitic schist of
Eocene age from Cuyuja, on the eastern Andean slope 45 km S of the equator
and 60 km ESE of Quito, carries the assemblage:
quartz-paragonite-muscovite-chloritoid-chlorite-kyanite-rutile-graphite.
I began a study of this unusual rock 30 years ago, but didn't get to
complete it before leaving Ecuador in 1978. A scattering of samples, thin
sections (regular and polished), as well as some analytical data have
survived several ensuing moves, and are still in my possession. If any of
this would be of use to you, please let me know.
All the best,
Tomas Feininger
