The Sussex Centre for Migration Research (SCMR) at the
University of Sussex, UK, is organising a day workshop
on june 13th on Music and Migration. We're a couple of
papers short for the day and if anyone has any work
they would like to present, or knows of anyone who may
be interested, I'd be very grateful if they would
contact me. We're interested in the importance of
music for migrant groups and references to migration
in any musical form. Papers should be 30 minutes,
including time for any music to be played. We will
cover all travel expenses for anyone coming from
Europe and will probably be able to cover the
(Eastern!) US.
The SCMR organises a workshop on a different migration
related theme each term and they typically receive 30
or 40 staff, students and guests. In the past papers
from some of these workshop days have been published
as edited volumes.
Please contact me at the above address if you are
interested, or know of anyone who might be,
Thank you
Michael Collyer
