APPEL A COMMUNICATION / CALL FOR PAPERS
III ieme JOURNEES d'ETUDES LINGUISTIQUES NANTES
(FRANCE)
III rd LINGUISTIC STUDIES WORKSHOP NANTES (FRANCE)
21-22-23 Mars / March 2002
"UNIVERSAUX SONORES" / "SOUND UNIVERSALS"
*THEMES / TOPICS
questions suivantes.
suivants

development of multimodal lexicons, funded by the German
Research Council (DFG) and beginning on 1st October 2001.
The project is part of a "Forschergruppe" (research group) on
texttechnological information modelling and is led by Dafydd
Gibbon and Ulrike Gut. Research in the project aims to find the
language-independent fundamental structures of multimodal
lexicons and to develop and implement such a lexicon for two
typologically different languages (e.g. English and a West African
tone language).
The following qualifications are expected:
- first degree in linguistics, computational linguistics or similar
- interest in gesturally based approaches in phonology, prosody and
phonetics
- excellent English and some knowledge of German
Candidates are expected to have additional interests in the theory of
gestural communication and in modelling this in cooperation with
computational linguists. Candidates are welcome to work towards
a PhD degree.
