> ii)development of XML DTDs to support interchange and searching across

Might be of interest that we have been looking at the possibility of the
OASIS data collection form for sites and monuments providing the basis
for an XML DTD. This would reference the various standards/thesauri
recommended by FISH for guiding content.
> iii) development of interchange protocols - a sort of 'Bath Profile' > for the historic environment
Also a Z39.50 target specification is available for consideration at
http://ads.ahds.ac.uk/project/target_spec.html
It expects compliance with both the BATH and CIMI (Consortium for rhe
Interchange of Museum Information) profiles and additionally provides
for a spatial search capability (important in resource discovery for
those interested in the Historic Environment). So far the profile has
been adopted by the Portable Antiquities Scheme, The Scottish Royal
Commission and the ADS as part of a pilot study. The portal is
currently undergoing testing before release.
