The Courtauld Colour Slide Scheme was first established in 1967 as the
Universities’ Colour Slide Scheme. Its aim is to provide a slide supply
service, on a not-for-profit basis, for the Courtauld Institute’s own slide
library and other colleges wishing to build up their slide collections.
Universities, Colleges of Art and Museum Education Departments form the
body of our membership. The Scheme makes colour slides of paintings,
sculptures and other works of art, many of which are not normally easily
accessible. It concentrates on works loaned to temporary exhibitions in the
major public and private galleries in London, throughout the United Kingdom
and, occasionally, in Europe. Where relevant, slides representing the full
work are supplemented with close-up details.
