root2001.org, the online anchor for the ninth
international ROOT festival has gone live, carrying
the memes and themes of another intensive radical
weekend to your screen, courtesy of Hull Time Based
Arts and Macedonian artist Ile Cvetkoski.

The site, which contains information on all the
featured artists and projects in Deep_ROOT, was
commissioned by HTBA as part of its Emerging Artist
Commission series for this year's ROOT. The site will
remain in flux, continuing to evolve and develop over
the build up to, and the course of the festival. Check
back regularly for new designs and concepts.

root2001.org will be the central online synapse for
the festival, and acts as a nexus point for
webcasting, online projects, links to wider debates,
chat rooms and archiving. ROOT online this year
includes EMARE
[European Media Artist Residency Exchange] Petko
Dourmana's user-visualisation system Socializer and a
full programme of live streams and documentation,
produced in collaboration with Site Gallery.

Deep_ROOT runs from Thursday 25th-Sunday 28th October
2001, charting an arc of practice and debate that
ranges from human/robotic space exploration to North
Sea core samples; from physical transformation to
online identity manipulation.
