Dear members of the engineering-geotech list,
From the 659 members eligible to vote, 72 votes were received by the
deadline announced at the time of voting. A turnout of just under 11%
which is very good for this kind of polling.
Of the 72 votes casted:
55 voted for some forms of restriction
14 voted against
3 does not give any preference
Therefore more than 75% of those who voted favour some form of
restrictions
Of the 55 voted for some forms of restriction:
32 voted for no restriction on the length of the text message
23 voted for a line limit ranging from 10 to 500 lines
Approximately 60% against
Of the 55 voted for some forms of restriction:
39 voted for a ban on attachment but not HTML files
11 voted against
5 voted NO in this question but YES in the next
Approximately 70-80% in favour
Of the 55 voted for some forms of restriction:
26 voted for a total ban on attachment including HTML files
29 voted against
Approximately 53% against
Thank you also for a lot of comments on how the restriction should be
imposed. However, whether these suggestions can be implemented or not
will be subject to the capability of the list serving software at
jiscmail.ac.uk
Thank you very much for your participation in this poll
The setting of the list will be changed by MON (2/7) to stop non-HTML
attachments, but no limit will be set on message length. Non-HTML
attachment files can be made available on the
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/files/ENGINEERING-GEOTECH/ site, so please
mail any files to engineering-geotech-request for mounting if needed.
There will also be a message for the case where attachments are
stopped, telling the sender to contact engineering-geotech-request.
We hope that the members will find these facilities useful.
Thank you for your attention.
Your list co-owner,
Andrew
