Stephen Walthall's suggestion is an excellent one. AGS format is compatible
with most logging software that I have seen. For files other than
geotechnical data, file compression utilities are widely available, and
plain text format can be used for documents. We need to leave the bells and
whistles of Windows operating system and its huge files in their proper
place, as a quasi-entertainment tool. Imagine this set of data sent as an
MS Access file attachment!
Society generally needs to pay more attention to economy of data storage and
transmission. This should be particularly true of engineers.
