INTERNET ACTIVISM: INVITATION TO WRITE
BOOK CHAPTER
_________________________________________________

Myself and a colleague here at the University of Teesside, John
Carter, are preparing an edited text with the working title 'Anti-
Capitalist Britain', and we are looking for someone to contribute
a chapter on Internet Activism.

The book is essentially about the current state of left and radical
politics in the UK - and state responses. Its underlying theme
will be the emerging (or at least potential) relationship between
the Marxist left and array of anti-globalisation and direct action
groups. Whilst it will have a primarily domestic focus the text
will of course consider 'our' anti-capitalism within an
international context. Indeed we will be seeking contributions
from groups whose focus is on international issues (Globalise
Resistance for example).

For the chapter on Internet Activism we would like someone to
examine the emerging direct action strategy of using the Internet
to campaign against and target the increasingly injurious forces of
globalisation and capital. This contribution could be written
either from an academic perspective or by someone with direct
experience of such campaigns. This does not have to be
restricted to the UK

To provide some indication of the way in which the book will
take shape we have commitments from authors/groups for
contributions/chapters in the following areas:

A recent history of the UK left
I.T and new forms of protest (This email)
New Labour's "Anti-Terrorist" legislation
Anti-consumerism
Globalisation
Directcontributions from groups like Reclaim the Streets,
GenetixSnowball etc. Also from parties - Socialist Alliance
    for example.

[We plan to give any Royalties from the book to contributing
activist groups.]

If you are interested in contributing to this project or know of
someone else that may be willing to write something on Internet
Activism please contact me by e-mail at { HYPERLINK

Cheers

Dave
