The social research team at NFO System Three, working from offices in
Edinburgh and London, provides high quality, social policy research to
clients in the public and voluntary sectors. We aim to position ourselves
between traditional academic and commercial approaches to research and
compete regularly and successfully with both sectors.
Although we work across a range of policy areas - including housing and
urban regeneration, local government and education - we have a particular
interest and expertise in the field of crime and justice. Our work in this
area in recent years has included projects on drug misuse, drug-driving and
drink-driving, older people and crime, crime in rural areas, young people
and street disorder, police witnesses and public attitudes towards
sentencing.
We are looking for people to join our teams in London and Edinburgh at
Principal Researcher, Senior Researcher or Researcher level. These roles
involve the design, management and reporting of research projects, proposal
writing and business development, with the Principal Researcher role having
a greater emphasis on business development. We require:
- a thorough understanding of both quantitative and qualitative research
methods and data analysis
- experience of working in a research or policy environment
- a background in, or understanding of, one or more key social policy areas
- excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- the ability to work independently and take on responsibility
- enthusiasm for the challenge of building the business
- experience of dealing with research and policy clients
- a creative approach to problem-solving and an ability to work to tight
deadlines
- computer literacy and familiarity with relevant software packages (e.g.
SPSS, Word, Excel, N5).
Benefits of the post include:
- the chance to work on a wide variety of projects using a range of research
methods and approaches
- the challenge of helping to grow a developing business
- attractive terms and conditions
- a friendly and informal working environment
