OOPS-148
The Full Object Advantage
Ian Davie, Versant Ltd
Object persistence is a key issue facing the development of many Java and
EJB applications. At the same time, creating scalable, high performance
applications within tightening deadlines is encouraging people to adopt many
new technologies. This presentation investigates how these problems can be
addressed with the use of Object databases and "Full Object" solutions.
Ian Davie studied Analytical Electronic Engineering and gained his first
position in the manufacture and design of Integrated Circuits for Phillips
Semiconductors. He spent his last 2 years at Phillips developing Integrated
Circuit CAD applications before moving into a position as a technical
consultant working for a company that specialised in software modelling
tools and software methodologies. As a consultant he helped development
teams understand and use modelling techniques such as OMT and later UML. In
his last role as joint founder and Technical Director of TakeFive Software
UK, Ian helped to build the company into a $million+ organisation before
leaving to join Versant UK. Over the years Ian has produced and given many
sales, training and technology presentations.
