Important: Public Consultation phase of MedPICS.
We are seeking feedback from medical webmasters on our MedPICS draft
metadata vocabulary and rating criteria.
This emerging metadata standard is potentially important for all health
websites as this vocabulary allows webmasters to describe their own
(privacy, ethics, advertising, content, quality, ...) policies using a
standardized vocabulary (i.e. using XML).
The vocabulary will also be used to achieve interoparability of third-party
rating / evaluation services such as URAC, MedCERTAIN, OMNI etc.
Lastly, the vocabulary allows users (consumers) to express their own
preferences and needs (e.g. the desired target audience of a site) in a
standard language (using a add-on to their browser), with the final aim to
get automatic
advice if a site doesn't comply to their own preferences and needs.
Finally, the vocabulary contains key questions which will be used to certify
a site in the MedCERTAIN framework.
For details on the approach, the "quality criteria" and the matadata
vocabulary of MedCERTAIN see

Feedback should be given to [log in to unmask] or to the public discussion board at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ehealth-trust-hdcollab
Please comment especially if you think that a question is ambigous, needs
additional clarification or definitions, cannot be answered by an evaluator
or is - in your opinion - irrelevant for the user. Also, please point out
areas which are not covered by the vocabulary deemed important.
A form allowing structured feedback to each metadata element will be posted
on the MedCERTAIN site shortly.
