We are looking for an enthusiastic information specialist/librarian with
a keen interest in evidence-based medicine to join the BMJ. You will be
working with a team to develop content for a health web site that will
be based on the best available research findings. The site will be for
doctors and patients and is being set up by the BMJ and its US partner.
The role: developing and using search strategies to find the best
research on treatments and prognosis; critically appraising the papers
you find; data checking and liasing with content authors and editors.
The ideal candidate will have: a postgraduate qualification in library
or information science; at least two years experience in a biomedical
library or similar environment; skill in searching Medline, Embase,
Cochrane and other databases; good numeracy and computer literacy; an
interest in developing evidence based sources of content for doctors and
patients.
The successful applicant will be a good communicator and be able to
prioritise and work accurately. As this is a new and growing venture the
ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines is essential, and we
would appreciate flexibility.
