Sounds fascinating. My understanding is that PILs were authored particulary
for use in clinician patient consultation so open access for all may not be
ideal. However there was a significant amount of work conducted on making
the information more accessible: for more information on the development of
PILs see the PRODIGY website www.prodigy.nhs.uk
The other problem for using multiple databases/sources is where say PILs and
Patientwise and another source contradict each other. Bit confusing for
anyone whether they are a clinician or a consumer! Are you producing
guidance to support individuals' appraisal of the material?
Best wishes

Apologies for crossposting
I have been investigating databases with access to patient information
factsheets, and considering 'Oxford PILS'. This is now part of 'Mentor Plus'
(OUP) (http://www.oup.co.uk/academic/medicine/medical_updates/mentor/ for
marketing blurb). Has anyone tried this out in a library setting? What do
you/your users think of it?
It would complement the internet access and hard copy 'Patientwise' we have
already, and be more up-to-date than Patientwise.
Our users are a mixture of students (all sorts of health/science courses),
some doctors, plus a few consumers.
Thanks!
Fiona
