Dear David
Great news. Date in diary and anticipating another stimulating few days!
As for the title, does "NHS" make it a
little restrictive, particularly if anyone has anything to do with non-
NHS health organisations e.g hospices, other health charities or
from abroad? What about "Complexity and Health Service Organisation".
Perhaps that makes it too "woolly" if you are wanting to focus in on
a specific area. Anyway, just an opinion.
Best wishes for Christmas and New Year to you and all other list members
Dan

> At the last Tufton Meeting we decided that the Tufton Group would run another Conference in Exete
r which Debbie and I are happy to host on 17/18/19 September. Following a short discussion at the
meeting and chatting things through with Frances, there are three areas on which we would value
feedback.
>
> 1. Conference title. Frances and I came up with "Complexity in the NHS". I think a number of
us share the concern that complexity is interesting from a descriptive perspective but to date is
deficient in practical application. The title would focus things into the real world and
accommodate both organisation and clinical areas.
>
> 2. Conference framework. The framework this year seemed to go well and we would propose a sim
ilar format but with more half hour parallel slots. i.e. a few keynote lectures by big names, a la
rge number of parallel half hour sessions and finishing with an open space meeting.
>
> 3. Co-sponsors. Fortunately we made quite a hefty profit at this conference and financial und
erwriting is not an issue. Having co-sponsors would raise the profile of the meeting and also faci
litate advertising. One thought is to badge it with the RCGP (through Tim Wilson) or the College
and possibly the NHS Confederation (an alliance of the body representing Health Authorities and Tru
sts).
