Hi all:
We have just got QuestionMark perception at Leeds. This gives us the
opportunity to investigate a wider range of interoperability isses. To
assist this, I have added ims_qtiasiv1p2.dtd to the list of dtds which the
test site will accept, although I cannot say yet how far my converter will
go in accepting the new possibilities which the new dtd offers.
One issue has come up at once, however, and that is the support for
True/False/Don't Know questions, which are more exacting for the candidate
than simple true/false check boxes. This requires some form of
signal in the xml to indicate that this sort of marking and presentation is
to be used. Following our long discussion at the last meeting, and a
very helpful suggestion from Steve Lay, I have used the minnumber parameter,
setting this to 1 for a True/False/Don't know and 0 for a simple check box
type. (see the examples I have put up on the site). Of course, the xml to
support this type of question also requires separate resprocessing.
We have experimented with Perception-produced XML and find that the minumber
parameter is not used in this way.
This points up an interesting interoperability issue which perhaps we should
discuss. In fact I wonder whether we should consider a sub-group to deal
with this sort of issue, rather than occupy everybody else.
Best wishes,
Graham
