This is a new archival project now being conducted by the Archives and
Special Collections Division of the Brooklyn College Library. Our specific
focus is on the Jamaican and Trinidadian & Tobagonian communities of
Brooklyn, but alsos look at groups serving the English-speaking Caribbean as
a whole.
The Caribbean community of Brooklyn is one of the largest and fastest
growing groups in our borough. This project, funded by a grant from the
Metropolitan New York Library Council <http://www.metro.org> (METRO) / New
York State Documentary Heritage Program
<http://www.sara.nysed.gov/services/grant/about.htm> (DHP), is the first of
its kind. It is expected to provide valuable information to historians and
other researchers for years to come.
