Dear all,
Below is a readvertising of a position I am trying to fill in what is
effectively applied environmetrics using MCMC.
I am looking in the first instance for expressions of interest from within
the EU (due to the difficulties in appointing non-EU staff).
If people either are personally interested, or know of others who may be, I
would appreciate them getting in contact with me directly.
With Thanks,
David Shipworth

Postdoctoral Research Associate (£18,731 per annum) 18 months Fixed Term
MODELLING THE GREENHOUSE IMPACT OF CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS MANUFACTURE
A postdoctoral research associate is needed to work on the above
EPSRC-funded project.
The research will develop a new method for the analysis of embodied
greenhouse gas emissions in manufactured products and apply this to the
major UK construction sector materials. The method developed involves
application of Markov-Chain Monte Carlo Bayesian statistical techniques to
integrate process-analysis data into a disaggregated model of the UK
National Environmental Accounts to generate distributions of embodied
greenhouse gas emissions for the materials analysed.
The researcher will hold (or be expecting to complete) a Ph.D. in a numerate
discipline (econometrics, applied statistics, mathematics, engineering,
physics, computer science or the like). Experience with applied Bayesian
analysis or econometric modelling will be an advantage, as would the
demonstrable capacity to rapidly learn new numerical methods.
The Department of Construction Management & Engineering is a
multi-disciplinary department with an international reputation for its
research. The Department achieved the highest possible grading (5*) in the
last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).
Salary will be £18,731 per annum.
Further enquires should be directed to Dr David Shipworth, (0118) 931 8201.
