Dear Guard sir Bircumshrew,
In our American lexiconium, "trash" would apply to the hysteric barrage of
shouts and insults directed our way for doing nothing but posting a quite
brief series of clearly-marked poetic epistles, which (I say with nary a
trace of self-congratulatory intent, except for, well, maybe a little bit),
three fine magazines have requested to publish. You, Sir Bircumstew, were
among the most wonderfully hysteric. And it was both fun and frightening to
gaze upon the spectacle. Nevertheless, la historia juzgara, as Nathan Hale
said, shortly before he was hanged.
So don't talk to me about silly, you silly guard with a tall and furry black
hat. London Tower burned, and you and and a covey of your brit-po
xenophobe-neurotics (though there are fine people on the list, to be sure)
provided the gasoline.
Knut
PS: And, futhermore, is it not obvious to you that you should thank Jacques
and me for taking the first, brave step in the poem-share love fest now
going on "over there"? It would appear that some kinds of poems are allowed;
others not. A mob with civilized clothes decides, I guess.
