Probabilistic Models in Vision and Signal Processing
www.bmva.ac.uk/meetings
One Day BMVA symposium in association with the RSS Statistical Image
Analysis and Processing Study Group at the Royal Statistical Society,
London, UK on 9th May 2001.
The aim of this one-day meeting will be to explore the common areas of
Probabilistic and Statistical Models in Image Analysis and Signal
Processing. Bayesian methods have been used in image reconstruction and
image segmentation for over twenty years. Initially, implementations
were restricted by computer processing requirements. However, current
technology allows more general models to be considered.
From a Bayesian perspective, Sequential Monte Carlo methods allow one to
compute the posterior probability distributions of interest on-line.
However, simulation methods can also be applied within other contexts.
As a result, they are being applied to a large number of interesting
real-world problems in computer vision, such as medical prognosis,
tracking, communications, blind deconvolution, statistical model
diagnostic tools, automatic control, navigation and neural network
training.
Possible Topics Include (but are not limited to):
? Bayesian Estimation
? Image Sequences and Tracking
? State Space and Hidden Markov Models
? Particle Filtering and Smoothing
? Sequential Monte Carlo Methods and Real-time Signal Processing
? Ion Channel Modelling
A selection of presenters will be invited to prepare a submission for a
special issue journal on the subject. Please send a short abstract of
proposed talks, along with your interest in preparing a full manuscript
for further journal publication, by 1st April 2001 to:
