Hi David,
Thanks for this info, as I'm sure you can already tell, I do not possess any
technical server skills and therefore rely on our computer centre for
support. Now does anyone have any suggestions about how I broach this matter
with our computer centre...
;-)
regards
Paul

Hello Paul
On a Solaris machine, e-mails to students go out with the sender's
e-mail address as the From: address. If the mail cannot be delivered
(eg, because the receiver's address is wrong), the sender gets a
bounce message at their e-mail address telling them the mail was not
delivered. If your mail system does not do this, I would suggest
getting another one that does, or running Blackboard on Solaris. This
is not really a problem with Blackboard.
Regards
David
