That's a bit harsh Kevin - yes the hope is that basic questions which
have been asked fifty times previously will be able to be addressed
through the archives, but that doesn't mean to say that those questions
aren't far from trivial for the new starters who ask them. I've been on
many mailing lists, and I don't think that the jiscmail is ovrburdening my
mailbox - if its from arthur loughran I delete it ;-) From talking to
people who are finding their feet with blackboard I think they see the
expertise they pick up from the jiscmail a welcome lifeline, but would
also be happy to find the answers them selves through archives rather than
feel that they are wasting people's time. I would be sorry if newer
blackboard users felt unable to ask what those of us a bit further
down the road may consider stupid questions - Iwish there had been so
many people avaliable to offer help when I started out. If you feel there
are too many trivial posts and comments, you could always unsubscribe!
