Dear Martin
I would like to thank you for your help in researching possible contributors
for the programmes I was researching on Fado, Moroccan, German and Russian
music. As a result of your enquiries I was contacted by a number of
interesting experts.
I am now researching a series of 6 programmes which will be transmitted in
August on Radio Scotland and which will look at the stories behind protest
songs throughout the 20th century. We hope to look at eg: Brother can you
spare a dime, Strange Fruit, The Radio Ballads, Janis Ian's Society's Child,
Bob Dylan's Ruben Carter, Pete Seeger's We will overcome and the Band's
Acadian Driftwood and work by Bob Marley. I am trying to find contributors
for the programme who can talk about these songs within the context of the
politics of their time.
I wondered if you could help me to contact experts and thank you in
anticipation.
yours
