There is an automated check for viruses on all email sent to the
JISCMail service. However virus scanners can only spot known viruses ( or
objects that conform to certain rules which make them likely to be viruses),
so there is no guarantee that a virus can not get through.
It is not possible to send a virus as part of a clear text message
(well not one that will get automaticaly or easily run at least). However
many messages these days are not clear text.
