I am researching a couple of music programmes which are in development for
BBC Radio 4 and wondered if you could help me find contributors who could
talk about Fado from Portugal, about Moroccan music, about the German Torch
song and beer house traditions, tango and the music of Russia.
In these programmes we would hope to look at the social, historical and
political aspects of the music forms. My producer has already made a
programme about the Chanson tradition in France, looking at its roots and
at how it has adapted throughout its history, at the themes it deals with
and at the lives and music of some of the greatest singers / songwriters.
I wondered if there were any experts who you could recommend, who would be
able to speak to us on any of the above musical forms.
