Here comes a problem!
Jo Millar, the head of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in
Glasgow Scotland, has a hobby of collecting verses for this tune. I'll
leave someone else to detail its history - Mrs MacLeod of Raasay is the
most popular Scottish name for the tune.
Wait a minute - maybe there is a Miss McCloud's Reel as well - I will look
up Andrew Kuntz' excellent CD-RAM, The Fiddler's Companion, and see what
may be there.
My favourite lyric to this tune is from a Sacred Harp Singers recording,
the title being Rocky Road. I will post this when I can.
"Nostalgia isn't what it used to be!"
