<< There's also "Sing a song of England", where he discusses some English
ballads from the perspective of anthropology. I forget the author, alas! >>
Reginald Nettel (Phoenix House, London, 1954) subtitled "A social history of
traditional song" and republished about ?fifteen years ago by that title - I
don't know the publisher in this latter case but I find that search of the
British Library OPAC http://opac97.bl.uk/Search?Action=New allows instant
check on full bibliographic details - I suppose that the Library of Congress
would be equally, or more, useful http://lcweb.loc.gov/catalog/. (Is there an
e-mail convention for tongue in cheek?)
