ASSISTANT ARCHIVIST
Library & Collections Department
salary: £18,000 pa
three year fixed term contract
As a result of a Leverhulme Trust grant award we are looking for a qualified
archivist to help catalogue the official records of the Royal Academy. You
will report directly to the Archivist. This is a challenging position
covering probably the most significant archive relating to pre-20th century
British Art.
You will be involved in the analysis, arrangement and description of the
Academy archive; take responsibility for most aspects of the cataloguing
process and administer a conservation programme for materials that require
treatment. Good IT skills and a knowledge of the EAD DTD is essential.
Prior experience of digitisation processes would be an advantage.
We expect you to be educated to degree level and have a post-graduate
diploma/masters qualification in archive administration together with some
experience of cataloguing institutional records. You should also be
enthusiastic, conscientious and able to work effectively as part of a small
team and on your own initiative.
