London Open House Weekend
Cancellation of Victorian Open Day – 22nd September 2001
We are very sorry to announce that in view of the recent events in the USA
the Public Record Office has regretfully had to withdraw from the London
Open House programme on the advice issued to Government departments by the
Cabinet Office; consequently the Victorian themed Open Day on Saturday 22nd
September has been cancelled. The decision was made at 4pm on Wednesday 19
September.
As part of the London Open House programme the Victorian Open Day consisted
of the opportunity to see areas of the Public Record Office that are not
usually open to the public and events were scheduled to take place in these
areas; it is because of this that the Open Day has had to be cancelled.
However, please note that the Public Record Office’s public areas – the
reading rooms and exhibitions - are open as usual.
We apologise both for the short notice and for any disappointment this may
cause.
Please note that the London Open House weekend programme remains largely
open. For more information see www.londonopenhouse.org.
