Are you responsible for implementing Freedom of Information in your
organization?
No idea how to do it?
Then you need this seminar, run by the Greater Manchester County Record Office
The Freedom of Information Act will soon be upon us. All organizations
will be required to comply with the Act. But do you understand the
legislation? Could you confidently develop and implement an action plan for
compliance? If you have any doubts about how to implement this very
complex piece of legislation then this seminar will be vital to your work.
Three experts will explain the nature of the Act, its ramifications and
practical strategies for its implementation. Jill Hoodless of the
Information Commissioner's Officer will explain the Act's characteristics
and what the Information Commissioner, the legislation's regulator, looks
for in good compliance. Kelvin Smith of the Public Record Office will
demonstrate how the archives sector will be affected specifically with a
thorough explanation of the Archives Code of Practice and a run through of
what you need to do to observe the law. Ireland has had FOI in place for
several years so this is your chance to learn from the Irish experience.
Joanne Rothwell of Waterford County Council will share her wide experience
of implementing FOI legislation in a local government environment.
This day promises to be informative and practical. Take the opportunity to
hear advice from the most well-informed experts, share in relevant debate
and network with other people facing the same challenges. With an easily
accessible location in central Manchester and lunch included, this is the
easy way to understand what Freedom of Information means for your
organization and how to implement the law.
