The Royal Society, the UK's premier scientific body, is undertaking a major
cataloguing programme. The Society's archives date from 1660, and include
not only the archives of the organisation itself, but also those of many of
its Fellows.
ASSISTANT ARCHIVIST
LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SERVICES
Reporting to the Archivist, the post holder will be responsible for
cataloguing the collections using the CALM 2000 database. Applications are
invited from enthusiastic applicants who hold a good honours degree, a
postgraduate qualification in archive administration and preferably at least
one year's experience for this challenging new post at the Royal Society.
Thoroughness, accuracy and attention to detail are essential attributes, as
is the ability to work flexibly as part of a small team. You will be
expected to undertake the full range of archival duties. IT skills are
essential and experience of CALM 2000 is desirable. An interest in science
would be an advantage.
Salary; £19,000 - £21,000 per annum
