Temporary Archive Assistant (6 month casual appointment)
Salary £14,178 pa
The National Archives of Scotland has a six-month casual vacancy within its
Government Records Branch. Although the post is offered as an initial
six-month contract there is a possibility of extension to a maximum of 12
months. You will be based at West Register House, Charlotte Square,
Edinburgh. The post will involve cataloguing records originating from a
variety of Scottish central government departments and agencies. There will
be some scope for involvement in provision of the public service in the
search room at West Register House.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and willing to learn.
Applicants should have an honours degree, preferably first or upper second
class, in history or another arts subject and a keen interest in archive
work.
This vacancy is suitable for someone seeking work experience prior to
applying for one of the archive courses and applicants will be required to
demonstrate a continuing commitment to the pursuit of an archival career.
