I can confirm Andrew's view that Valuation Rolls in Scotland are a vital
resource for a wide range of historical research and that it would never
occur to us here in the Highlands to weed them. With publication annually
they enable researchers to identify changes in ownership, tenancy, and
building development (or ruin) to a given year. We keep valuation rolls for
each of the 5 counties we serve for every year since 1868 to 1989 when the
rating system changed.
