Colleagues
I promise that this is the last personal message I'll be posting to the
listserv. Those who are already sick of me and my news hit "delete" now.
Just to let you all know that my throat operation went off successfully.
The hospital pulled out the stops to speed on the biopsy results, so that I
was able to learn that the growth was not malignant before Christmas
weekend, which was a relief, to say the least.
I'm now back at my desk, equipped with a Lee Marvin "Wandrin' Star"-era
gravelly-croak in place of my normal voice and under orders to avoid any
more talking than I possibly have to. Those of you who know me will
understand what a strain this will be for me...
I'll be back in hospital for a follow-up examination in three months, and
so until then I'd be very grateful if you could all continue to keep in
mind my previous request for contact to be by emails and letters rather
than 'phone.
Once again, thanks to everyone who got in touch - your messages really
brightened up my Christmas (and reminded me what's really important in life)
Happy New Year!
Regards
Richard
