The ICA announces the publication of "A Guide to the archival care of
architectural records, 19th-20th centuries" (ICA Paris 2000) 150 pages,
US$26, 20 Euros, 130FFR
This illustrated book reveals a programme of work in successive stages
dedicated to modern architectural archives. It's aimed at archivists who
aren't experts in architectural archives, as well as architects and those
involved in preservation of documentation of architectural heritage. The
manual consists of 7 chapters: documents resulting from architectural
practice; principals, criteria and methods of acquisition; appraisal and
sorting; classification of architectural archives; description of
architectural archives; conservation; access and outreach - research and
exhibitions. There's also a glossary and bibliography.
