Dear All
The SoA and RMS draft Code of Practice regarding the Data Protection Act
recommends that researchers be made "to sign a declaration that, as a
condition of access to the data, they will comply with the relevant
conditions and Data Protection Principles...". It goes on to suggest that
researchers utilising personal data should be informed that any such data
disclosed to them "is subject to the Act and is their responsibility, not
that of the archives repository". Having drawn the short straw in the
department, I am now dealing with DPA and am wondering if anyone else has
undertaken to change researcher agreements or produce separate documentation
to cover the above. Few of the papers held here relate to living
individuals, so it is unlikely to be a big issue, but any information will
be gratefully received!
Many thanks
Rich
