This was a very unprecise way of me to put it. I´m sorry. I would rather suggest that the mould may break after the metal has set, by tension between ceramic and metal during the process of cooling off. If the mould is generally OK in it´s refractory qualities, the critical point would rather occur in the cooling process after setting.
