Call for Papers: The West Virginia University Institute for the History of
Technology and Industrial Archaeology and the Society for Industrial Archeology
Three Rivers Chapter is pleased to announce that the 2002 Ironmasters
Conference will be held on the campus of Ohio University at Athens, Ohio April
26-28, 2002. This three day conference will feature a Friday early bird tour
of the Ironton area charcoal iron industry, Saturday paper sessions, and a
Sunday tour of Buckeye and Vinton Furnaces. The paper selection committee is
actively seeking paper proposals related to industry and life in the Hanging
Rock Iron Region as well as papers related to historic ironmaking, iron mining,
and related topics. Professionals, non-professionals, and students are
encouraged to submit a paper proposal. Abstracts should be no more than two
hundred words, and speakers will be allotted twenty minutes per presentation.
Proposal are due by January 15, 2002.
