Where other statisticians simply dwell on numbers,
this team delivers competitive advantage.
Opportunities for Statisticians at Harlow and Greenford
As one of the world's most successful research-based pharmaceutical
companies, at GlaxoSmithKline we depend on the significant contribution of
our Biostatistics and Programming professionals. This department has an
important strategic impact on the overall design of all worldwide clinical
trial development programmes, adding numerical weight to each compound's
viability. In fact, statisticians play a key role in maximising the value of
our R&D information assets through the provision of the highest quality
inferential and analytical expertise.
Working on clinical trials from compound safety and efficacy to the
verification of additional drug claims beyond marketing and launch, your
statistical analyses will be performed utilising the very latest
technologies. The department is responsible for designing clinical trials,
preparing reports, presenting statistical results and liaising with
regulatory agencies worldwide. Working closely with clinical colleagues and
consulting with other internal and external customers, representing the
company at meetings, will be key to influencing decision-making at all
levels.
As a minimum, you'll need an MSc in Statistics and one year's relevant work
experience. For more senior roles, you'll need at least five years'
experience within a pharmaceutical environment where, as a senior member of
a project team, you've seen a submission through and interacted with
regulatory authorities in more than one therapeutic area. Neurology and
cardiovascular expertise would be ideal but is not essential. Good
communication and interpersonal skills are vital as well as excellent
teamworking skills and the ability to influence others.
GlaxoSmithKline is dedicated to workplace innovation and will support you
with career-long opportunities and learning. We offer competitive benefits
and compensation packages designed to attract and retain the very best.
