The 30th annual European Mathematical Genetics Meeting (EMGM) will be held in
Sheffield from the Saturday 6th - Monday 8th April 2002. The meeting will begin at
lunchtime on the Saturday and finish at lunchtime on the Monday to avoid too much
overlap with the meeting in Cambridge that precedes this.
The meeting will consist of two days of talks and posters covering all areas of
mathematical genetics with a mix of submitted abstracts and some invited speakers.
Areas covered include genetic epidemiology, population genetics, association and
linkage studies, QTL mapping and phylogenetics.
The registration fee for EMGM 2002 will include breakfast, lunch and dinner, the
conference meal, refreshments and en suite accomodation on the Saturday and Sunday
nights. The provisional charge will be 180 pounds (sterling) per person.
Sheffield is the fourth largest city in England and is located in South Yorkshire on
the edge of the Peak District National Park. It is just over two hours by train from
London, just over one hour by train from Manchester Airport and a few minutes drive
from the M1 motorway. Stephenson Hall, where the meeting will be held, is the oldest
hall at the university, dating back to the early nineteenth century and set in
delightful lawns and gardens.
A webpage for the meeting will shortly be available at
http://www.shef.ac.uk/~dgm/emgm2002/ and registration and abstract submission details
will be distributed when these become available.
