Dear all,
Some e-mails I sent to ALLSTAT earlier this year uncovered considerable
interest in establishing a network of statisticians involved in or
interested in primary care. As a result, there will be a half-day meeting
for all those interested or involved in primary care at the RSS on November
15th. The aims of this meeting and details of the afternoon's programme are
given below. Apologies to those who receive this message twice!
IF YOU WISH TO ATTEND PLEASE REPLY TO THE RSS (address below) AND NOT TO ME.
THANKS.
Statistics in Primary Care: The Generalist's Domain?
November 15th 2pm to 5.30pm
At the Royal Statistical Society, 12 Errol Street, London EC1Y 8LX
This is a special meeting for statisticians who are involved in or
interested in primary care.
The aims of the meeting are:
NETWORKING
-to meet others working in a similar setting and to share experiences
-to make contacts which may result in mutual support
ROLE ESTABLISHMENT
-to increase awareness of the particular role of statisticians in primary
care research
-to think about the future direction of a network of statisticians involved
in or interested in primary care
GENERALISM v SPECIALISM
-to get an overview of the statistical designs and analyses being undertaken
in primary care
-to increase understanding of cluster randomised trial design in particular
There will be four short relating to aspects of working in a primary care
setting, and statistical methodology. There will also be plenty of
opportunity for informal and formal discussion. Book reviews of books useful
for training and teaching will be available.
