Salary £18,911 to £26,918 (depending on experience)
The information and Statistics division (ISD) of NHS Scotland provide
statistical and information management services to the Scottish Executive
Health Department, to health boards, to NHS trusts and a wide variety of
professional groups concerned with the planning and management of the NHS,
Scotland. Within ISD, the Scottish Cancer Intelligence Unit includes the
functions of cancer registration, surveillance and epidemiology, and the
evaluation of screening and therapy. The Unit is a well-established source
of information on cancer used by clinicians, policy-makers and researchers
in Scotland and internationally.
We are looking for a senior statistician to play a key role in analysis work
in support of the recently announced Cancer Strategy for Scotland. The
successful candidate will be involved primarily in supporting, developing
and analysing the national prospective clinical audit data collected by the
Scottish Cancer Therapy Network. This will involve close liaison with
clinicians and the Scottish Executive, so good communication skills are
important. We require a graduate in a numerate discipline with at least
three years experience in a health related research or information field. A
postgraduate qualification in statistics or epidemiology and/or experience
of analysing clinical audit data would be an advantage.
