SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW / RESEARCH FELLOW - STATISTICS
Applications are invited a statistician to join the multi-disciplinary MRC
Health Services Collaboration (HSRC), University of Bristol. The
successful applicant will join a group developing new approaches to
statistical evidence synthesis and medical decision making, and
applying them to current controversies in public health and clinical
management. This is a new area involving statistical estimation of
complex models using disparate items of information, assessment of
consistency between sources of data, use of the model in medical
decision making, and formal methods for research prioritisation.
This is a 3-year appointment at Senior Research Fellow or
Research Fellow level (MRC bands 3 or 4, salary range £26,424 -
£35,995), with the possibility of renewal for a further 4 years. The
level of the appointment and starting salary will depend on
qualifications and experience. The post is available from January 7,
2002.
Applicants should have postgraduate qualifications in statistics or mathematics.
Experience or knowledge of any of the following would be an advantage:
Bayesian methods and theory, meta-analysis, systematic review,
epidemiology, economic evaluation, decision analysis, statistical
decision theory, S-Plus programming, medical or biological
applications, operations research.
